Scott Swanay graduated from Harvard in 1987 with a degree in Applied Math & Computer Science. In 2004, after nearly two decades of toiling away as an insurance actuary, bored with his job and dreaming of his first love, baseball, Harlem resident Scott Swanay suddenly found himself laid off. But Scott turned that negative situation into a blessing in disguise by starting his own business, providing analysis of baseball statistics to fantasy baseball players.
His competition includes ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and Yahoo! Sports, among others, but he continues to expand his business and grow his subscription sales. In fact, Scott’s website, FantasyBaseballSherpa.com has been so successful that in the summer of 2008, he expanded into the fantasy football market, launching FantasyFootballSherpa.com.
Mr. Swanay is a fully qualified statistical wizard. He graduated from Harvard in 1987 with a degree in Applied Math and Computer Science, and worked as an actuary for the next 17 years, holding a series of positions with increasing levels of responsibility. He completed a series of ten rigorous exams to become a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) in 1998. Upon losing his job in 2004, Scott decided to combine his lifelong passion for sports with his statistical and analytical expertise. Since then he has developed the products that led to the creation of his two websites, FantasyBaseballSherpa.com and FantasyFootballSherpa.com.
