Why You Left Your Last Job: I replaced my job income by starting up an online store and affiliate program. I was frustrated and tired of waiting tables. I had been in food service since I was 15 years old, hosting, serving, training and supervising. After a decade it was clear it was a nice way to make some quick cash without a big college degree or a lot of headaches but not my destiny or what I saw myself doing for the rest of my life.
How You Started Your Business: I have always had a passion for media, film and music. I actually got my start on TV when I appeared on a local morning show "AM Northwest" on KATU as a "Teen Reporter" and eventually a "Youth Reporter". That connected me with my passion to perform, share ideas and communicate. At an audition for a TV commercial during a time when I was pretty frustrated with my media career and tired of waiting tables to pay the bills I met an amazing man named David Etherly. He eventually invited me to take a look at some projects he was working on and expanding. After we swapped numbers I called him a week later only to learn he had lost my number! Looking back my entrance into business was a very fine line. I have always believed it's not what you know but who you know that counts. Today David has been able to retire his wife after 18 years of teaching school because of the success of their business ventures. She stays home to raise their two kids and with the growth of their company both on and off the Net David should be able to leave his government job and join them at home very soon. Thanks to the amazing connections I made through David and the mentorship of some very wealthy people I was able to surpass my job income and step away from food service at the age of 26.
What Does Success Mean To You: Success means a lot of different things to different people. For me Success means Freedom. Freedom to give back to the community in which I live, freedom to spend time with my family and find ways to bless their life. Free to the things I've always wanted to have the time and money to do, like develop media and TV projects, stay on the cutting edge of marketing with my organization www.FluxLive.com, or support some great causes. Freedom to me is all about choices. To have the ability to set your own schedule, generate income based on your own efforts, to get up when you want to get up and spend time with people your respect or admire. Not having a boss or having to fight through traffic to go to a place I really didn't want to go is pretty nice. I believe True Success is not only being able to take care of yourself and your family but helping others do the same. I do my best to "Pay it Forward" and have helped a handful of people who have approached me to get into business for themselves and capitalize on some of the mega trends of social media, e-commerce and brand endorsements. I was given a great opportunity to leave my job in my 20's and define my own future the least I could do is pass on a little opportunity to others. In this economy we need opportunity, hope and a fair shot to make it on our own. I hope you find yours.
